Add a whisky education to your Festival bucket list

Situated only a dram, jig and a jump away from the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, The Scotch Whisky Experience are the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s favourite neighbours.

There’s no better way to gee yourself up for an evening of home grown and international entertainment than a spot of pre-show dining at the award winning Amber Restaurant. If you’re a visitor to the city, sucking up every last ounce of Scottish culture or if you’re in search of options for an exclusive and private celebration you can book the Castlehill Room and enjoy ‘the’ private dining experience. Added bonus – guests skip the Royal Mile queues for the Tattoo!

Running throughout the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, from Friday 3rd August to the 25th August is a variety of Whisky sampling events to enjoy, from the likes of John Dewar & Sons and Whyte & Mackay. These events follow the first International Spirits Challenge to be held outside of London which The Scotch Whisky Experience proudly hosted this June. The Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing MSP, welcomed ten of the world’s leading Master Whisky Blenders to blind taste and score 250 individual Whiskies from across the globe.

Become a connoisseur of this integral part of Scottish culture and identity by taking part in our Enthusiasm for Scotch Event during the festival. It includes a guided tour, a viewing of the World’s Largest Whisky Collection, Scottish Tapas from the Amber Restaurant, an aroma quiz and a tutored tasting of four single malt Scotch Whiskies. Take your extraordinary new talents home and wow your friends and colleagues.
