Dovecot Studios
These grand Victorian Baths in the heart of Edinburgh have been renovated to house Dovecot Studios; a vibrant and contemporary arts hub, combining an internationally renowned working tapestry studio, state of the art exhibition galleries and imaginative event spaces
Dovecot is a unique venue located within 5 minutes walking distance of Edinburgh’s Waverley train station and the Royal Mile and provides contemporary spaces that combine historic features with contemporary design. Dovecot can accommodate a range of events from small meetings and workshops to drinks receptions and dinners and larger events for up to 300 guests.
The Weaving Floor and Viewing Balcony combine historic features with contemporary style and provide a light and atmospheric setting for drinks receptions, dinners and cultural events. The looms can be moved to the back of the space to create an interesting backdrop for your event and the crisp white walls and vibrant coloured yarns complement the grandeur created by the large skylight and the original vaulted ceiling of the Victorian Swimming Bath.
The Weaving Floor and Balcony provide a versatile events space where guests can enjoy a drinks reception on the Balcony and then move downstairs to the expansive Weaving Floor below for dinner. Alternatively, the Viewing Balcony alone can be hired where guests have a brilliant view of the Tapestry Studio with the large looms still in place on the Weaving Floor below.
The Meeting Room benefits from natural light from an overhead skylight and a row of beautiful arched windows and can accommodate up to 18 guests boardroom or 40 guests theatre style. The larger Ladies Baths are located on the first floor and benefits from a skylight and three arches that frame the back of the room. This flexible space can accommodate up to 72 guests cabaret style or 120 guests theatre style. Lift access is available throughout the building and during breaks, guests can browse the shop on the ground floor and enjoy the current exhibitions within the galleries.
Two stylish ground floor gallery spaces play host to a series of changing exhibitions and are available both during (subject to the current exhibition) and between exhibitions for drinks receptions, dinners and corporate hospitality. Events are afforded either an inspiring artistic backdrop or a crisp white backdrop, providing a unique, creative setting for any event.
