Starboard Home for Britannia's Royal Barge
The great River Thames will play host to a majestic pageant on Sunday the 3rd of June in celebration of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Britannia’s Royal Barge has been re-commissioned to transport The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and other members of the Royal Family to The Pageant Barge, which will form the centrepiece of the procession. The Royal family will be joined on the two and half mile stretch by boats of all shapes and sizes, decorated with garlands and Union Jacks for the occasion.
Originally, The Royal Barge’s purpose was to transport members of the Royal Family to and from The Royal Yacht Britannia, which is permanently berthed in the historic port of Leith, Edinburgh. Retired from her days of exploring 135 countries and over a million miles, the Yacht now brings joy to tourists and private guests alike by acting as one of Scotland’s most illustrious venues. The beautifully maintained Yacht has kept extraordinary company over her 44 year career with the likes of Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill dining aboard. Now she is available to hire for exclusive events and the onboard team of specialists promise to deliver an evening fit for a Queen (or of course a Prince).
For medium sized parties, the State Apartments and Royal Deck can accommodate over 300 people for champagne receptions and canapés. Be greeted aboard by the Pipe Major and arrange tours so your guests can catch a glimpse of the Queen’s bedroom or the collection of gifts and artefacts. Everything from bread to ice-cream is prepared on board and a personal Sommelier and Mixologist will dazzle your guests with their expertise. Use this Jubilee year as an excuse to hire the Royal Yacht Britannia and indulge in a little Royal treatment.
During the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Royal Yacht will be staging a week of celebrations with over 70 of The Queen’s original crew, the Yotties, returning to her helm to run the activities. Make sure you come and join in the festivities.
