Events and Marketing opportunity at Hopetoun House
Hopetoun House, a five star hospitality and events venue on the outskirts of Edinburgh, is currently looking for an Events Manager/Coordinator to sell, design and deliver superb Weddings, Public Events and smaller scale corporate events, together with promoting these through social and traditional media. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to enhance and develop their experience in a broad range of events and activities in a stunning venue.
This post reports to the General Manager and works alongside the Sales Manager and Senior Events. The successful candidate will support a range of activities from weddings, public events, corporate events, and general marketing.

This post reports to the General Manager and works alongside the Sales Manager and Senior Events Manager. The team share an office with our catering partner’s Food & Beverage Manager and Event Catering Designer.
We currently host about 25 weddings a year of which about half are managed by this post, and the other half by the Senior Event Manager. Client service, focus on detail and exceptional quality delivery are essential.
The key public event responsibility for this post is the administration and delivery of our well-established Christmas Shopping Fair. It also includes smaller events, for example, occasional outdoor theatre, third-party classic car displays and art exhibitions. It does not include larger events such as Fireworks Night and Horse Trials.
The majority of the corporate events hosted at Hopetoun come under the ward of the Senior Events Manager, although some of the smaller-scale events and day conferences may be taken on and delivered by this post.
This post is responsible for the promotion of the above events and activities, and for general visitor attraction promotion. This is delivered through both traditional print media and through maintaining and developing an active social media presence. Though a marketing qualification is NOT required, a good working knowledge of social media is, and experience of updating web-site information is desirable (training will be given).
Within the Events and Hospitality Team this post will also contribute to general business design and development. Hopetoun has a small dedicated team and there are times when assistance is required in other activities out-with the core responsibilities of this post.
Hours of Work
Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9-5. Out of hours/weekend/evening event-duties are frequent and dependent on business requirements, for which Time off in Lieu is given. A generous holiday allowance is given.
Qualifications, Qualities and Experience
Essential: Relevant experience in event design/delivery/coordination; a good working knowledge of social media; the right personality and drive to work with our clients, partners and team to design and deliver first class events. Own transport is essential as there is no public transport to Hopetoun or near Hopetoun.
Desirable: Educated to degree level; experience of updating information/images on a web-site; an eye for design.
