Shortlisted Venues ()

As one of Edinburgh’s foremost wedding venues, Dundas Castle has seen more than its fair share of couples walk down the aisle of its medieval ‘Auld Keep’ and sip champagne on its rolling lawns. Weddings can be years in the planning, but the venue has recently seen an influx of romantic couples enquiring and booking now for Summer 2013. And why not? Dundas Wedding coordinator Lisa Muxworthy welcomes this trend, ‘It’s great that couples place their trust in our experienced team to plan and deliver spectacular and truly personal weddings within a relatively short time-frame. Couples know that we are always on the other end of the phone, and that no question or issue is too small.’

The venue is certainly no stranger to acts of romance. More than one Dundas couple have decided to tie the knot whilst staying on the estate’s gorgeously tranquil Boathouse on its own private loch. Another proposal took place high above the Castle in a hot air balloon. But perhaps the most romantic story is of a gentleman who brought his girlfriend on what she believed to be a bespoke history tour for two. Upon viewing the atmospheric Great Hall the man got down on one knee, and said ‘How would you like to marry me here?’ Needless to say, the answer was ‘Yes!’
