With this year’s Ryder Cup due to be played in the stunning surroundings of The Gleneagles Hotel in Perth, The Scotch Whisky Experience has launched a special package to tempt Golf fans to combine their stay in Scotland with an experience of the country’s capital and a delicious encounter with its national drink.

Echoing the origins of the Ryder Cup itself, the ‘Transatlantic Tastes’ dining package will be a meeting of elements from the US and Britain – though the result promises to be more harmonious than competitive. VIP guests will enjoy a fascinating ‘Platinum’ tour of The Experience, culminating in the tasting of a 21 year old Scotch in The World’s Largest Collection of Scotch Whisky. This will lead seamlessly into arrival cocktails (of American and British extraction) in the venue’s fabulous McIntyre gallery with its panoramic Edinburgh views. A Scottish banquet for up to 24 will then follow on the long table of the elegant Castlehill Room, each course complimented by fine wines from the USA. The evening will culminate in a the tasting of The Scotch Whisky Experience’s own 25th Anniversary Whisky, a 25 year old blend that will accompany the sumptuous dessert.

As two of Scotland’s greatest cultural exports, and biggest tourist draws, Whisky and Golf are forever linked in the public consciousness with all that is Scottish. These two passions are complimentary, often combined by visitors from abroad, who have flocked to Scotland for hundreds of years to play a round of Golf followed by a wee dram, or for braver souls, the same in reverse.
