The Scotch Whisky Experience completes multi-million pound refurbishment with luxurious new events suite
The Scotch Whisky Experience, Edinburgh’s five-star whisky venue, has unveiled a major renovation of its top floor events suite.
The newly unveiled Castlehill and Blender’s rooms have been transformed each with their own whisky inspired identity alongside an array of ultra-modern audio visual equipment.
The culmination of a 6 year, £7 million upgrade, the new event spaces offer a fittingly luxurious venue for the high profile whisky industry events held at the Royal Mile venue. They are also available to hire for private events, hosted by in-house team behind award-winning ‘Amber Restaurant’.
In conjunction with Edinburgh design agency Bright 3D, the renovation has given each room in the suite a distinct identity, preserving the best of the building’s Victorian heritage whilst introducing dramatic new features.
The larger Castlehill Room is now plays host to important new whisky focused artworks, with artist blacksmith Elspeth Bennie creating a series of copper and brass installations illustrating whisky production. The room’s vaulted ceiling now features two bespoke light installations which suspend hand blown glass ‘droplets’ and over 100 whisky barrel staves to create an impressive ambient light show. What appears to be a baronial over-mantel mirror becomes an engaging and unique multimedia screen, enhancing the theming and branding possibilities for the venue’s clients.
The smaller Blender’s Room, which hosts the popular Scotch Whisky Training School, is inspired by the Whisky Blender’s sample room. It features up-lit whisky samples, and hand crafted oak cabinets displaying notable blended whiskies to inspire participants in the venue’s ‘Blend Your Own Whisky’ packages. Stripped back Victorian stonework uncovered during the renovation provides traditional character and leads to the room’s uninterrupted view over Edinburgh’s south side.
Susan Morrison, director and general manager of The Scotch Whisky Experience, said: “Over the past few years, our events and hospitality business has shown excellent growth and is gaining an enviable reputation. As the culmination of our refurbishment programme we have brought the same high quality craftsmanship and uniqueness to our private events spaces. The finished product brings together some of the best of Scotland’s artists and designers with experts in field of event multimedia and we are delighted to have created the perfect “blend”.”
Alongside the two renovated rooms, The Scotch Whisky Experience also offers corporate and group experiences in the World’s Largest Collection of Scotch Whisky and in the less formal environment of Amber Restaurant.
