Hopetoun House is hiring a Sales Manager

Status; Part Time – 3 days per week
30,000-35,000 pro rata, per annum

Reporting to the General Manager (GM)

Primary Role of the Sales Manager

Promoting, developing and selling Hopetoun’s event offering, primarily within the corporate/incentive market in order to win business for Hopetoun so that it can fulfil its Conservation and Education objectives.

Secondary Role of the Sales Manager

Providing marketing oversight on all general activities, including;

-Events, Visitor Attraction, Weddings and having overall responsibility for the Sales and Marketing Budget
-Guidance and higher level decision making for the Event Manager/Marketing Assistant on general marketing
-Periodically liaising with the Marketing Manager of Hopetoun Estates (our sister organisation) on overall Hopetoun strategy in relation to marketing and promotion
-To a lesser degree, developing, promoting and selling higher value Visitor Attraction offerings to higher-end clients, especially when combined with events.

Sales Manager, Responsibility Outline

-Winning new business through the promotion and sales of corporate and higher value visits at Hopetoun by;
-Developing and working to a two year rolling Sales Plan (with the GM and HPL’s Director of Sales)
-Working with the GM on setting and working to targets for appointments, enquiries, site visits & income generation

-Maintaining and developing relationships with:
– Agents, DMC’s, PCO’s, corporate contacts
– Visit Scotland Business Events, Marketing Edinburgh, Unique Venues of Edinburgh
– Key industry partners
– Attendance at relevant industry shows, events and promotional activities in Scotland and occasionally beyond
– Designing, instigating, arranging and delivering relevant familiarisation visits to Hopetoun
– Working with the GM and Event Team on;
– The development of products and services in these areas
– The design and production of relevant sales material and collateral
– Advising on relevant marketing activity
– Being knowledgeable of competitor venues, offerings and pricing in order to inform the same at Hopetoun
– Working on agreed and appropriate expenditure on Client meetings, entertainment and activities
-Carrying out these duties as a Brand Ambassador for Hopetoun, ensuring that the luxury brand is upheld


Key Skills and requirements of the Sales Manager

As appropriate to the level of this appointment this post requires a proven track record of sales in the Luxury/Five Star hospitality market to both the corporate and incentive sectors in Edinburgh and beyond.

An experienced, self-starting hospitality sales professional, knowledgeable within the Edinburgh market place, with a wealth of existing relevant contacts in both Scotland and beyond. Experience within the luxury hospitality sector is essential.

Familiarity with CRM systems (Hopetoun currently uses Kx Express)

Ability to confidently and knowledgably promote & sell events and other offerings at Hopetoun in the context of its historic and family nature

Flexible, positive and able to work both within a small team and on your own with a range of potential clients, agents and working partners
