Saturday 11 August (14:00-15:00)
Distiller – Scottish Liqueur Centre
Host: Kenny MacKay
Expressions to be sampled:  Bruadar, Ginger tams and Columba Cream
The Scottish Liqueur Centre was founded in 1982 originally on the Island of Mull, off the West of Scotland. Indeed the family home of the founder is still there, overlooking the fine silver sands and jade-green waters of Calgary Bay. This island, which with its neighbour Iona is so steeped in history, has played an important part in the development of our original product, Columba Cream . Our liqueur is named after St Columba, who in 564AD founded the Christian monastery on the Island of Iona. Columba cream is based on a traditional Scots drink called “brose” which was made daily using ingredients readily available on the crofts. While there is no official record that St Columba ever tasted our brose, it is more than likely that he and his monks brewed up something similar on a regular basis.  Our recipe has been genuinely handed down through at least three generations and is essentially the same product today.  Our other liqueurs are all made with a base of Single Malt Scotch Whisky and are all are made by hand in our premises in Bankfoot, Perthshire, Scotland.
