DYNAMIC EARTH TEAM ‘OVER THE MOON’
Britain’s first European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut, and national treasure, Tim Peake, visited Edinburgh’s five-star attraction Dynamic Earth.
On 17 October, families were invited to come and meet Tim Peake at Dynamic Earth. Tim began a 6 month mission to live and work on the International Space Station back in December 2015, and returned to Earth earlier this year.
As part of his hour-long visit to Dynamic Earth, Tim gave a short presentation in the attraction’s dedicated conference suite; the Biosphere, followed by a Q&A session, set to inspire children and adults alike in the wonders of space exploration.
Following the ticketed event, Tim met with visitors on the top deck of the attraction. His visit coincided with Dynamic Earth’s ‘Universe is Your Oyster – Inspiring Young Scientists’ event, funded by the UK Space Agency, where young people are invited to come and meet real life scientists, and learn about the exciting career possibilities available for them in the world of Space and Earth Observation
Dynamic Earth’s marketing manager, Eilidh Massie comments: “We’ve pulled out all the stops this October with a visit from Tim Peake. His amazing contribution to the European Space Agency, and science as a whole, is inspirational and we were so excited to have him here. We’ve been following Tim’s space adventure closely over the past year, with lots of space-themed events and activities for visitors, and we are truly honoured to have welcomed him to the attraction.
Tim visited Edinburgh as part of a UK-wide tour. He visited the city in partnership with the ESA and UK Space Agency.
